COMIT's mission is to promote the use of mobile technology within the UK construction industry by spreading best practice, promoting new developments and facilitating understanding between technology providers and construction companies.

It will allow us to better solve problems that the industry faces, work closer with key players in the industry and give us more feedback.

Deptford Green, a £23m project, has adopted the SHE Passport to improve Site Management and Safety for its workforce.

As the project covers a wide area, it can prove all the more diffcult to ensure adequate records are maintained. However, with the use of the Mosaic Passport, records can easily be managed and updated both on site and out on the field.

The solution further boasts its flexibility as it is introduced to the Port Talbot PDR project. The project is to construct 4.5 km of dual carriageway access road from the M4 Junction 38 into Port Talbot and the Docks as well as completing the link to Junction 42 on the M4 and West Wales.

The project covers several kilometres but even without a secure fence line our system provides the contractors with the necessary control over the delivery of all aspects of Safety briefings.

Mosaic is currently reviewing the option of adopting the CSCS SmartCard that will allow the Mosaic system to be used with both the Mosaic SHE Passport (Smart Card) and the new  CSCS Smart Card.

Not only will this enhance accuracy but will eliminate double entry of CSCS data into the Mosaic System.

Costain has extensive contracts in the industries of Water, Waste, Marine, Education, Highways, Rail, Airports, Nuclear, Power and Hydrocarbons & Chemicals.

By integrating with Costain's current systems, Mosaic has been able to bridge all of the gaps needed to provide Costain with a true SHE Passport.

The consented £600m wind farm at Clyde is located between Biggar and Moffat and is divided by the M74 motorway running between Abington, Elvanfoot and Crawford in South Lanarkshire. The site occupies approximately 47.5sq km of farmland.

Having investigated several systems Hanson choose the Mosaic Passport to trial at the Windfarm in Clyde.

Following a successful trial, advanced negotiations are underway for the deployment of the product within Hanson.

4Delivery are building a new sewer and pumping stations to move wastewater from Peacehaven, Telscombe, Saltdean, Rottingdean, Woodingdean, Brighton and Hove to the site of a new Wastewater Treatment works at Lower Hoddern Farm, Peacehaven, which is also being built.

Boasting huge success in the Highways Sector, Mosaic now moves into the Water Sector providing its Passport to the high profile project for Southern Water.

Using the Mosaic Passport, members can now update Competency and Access the buildings. Not only are access levels restricted according to skills but Health & Safety officials receive automatic emails when First Aiders or Fire Marshalls in the building fall below certain levels.

With a faultless record with implementation, yet another area adopts the Mosaic Network Passport.

Managing Director John Micciche boasts, "It is apparent now the need for such a system as ours. The Mosaic Network Passport has taken Competency Management to a new level".

The Area 7 five-year contract started on 1st July 2009 with an overall estimated value of £300m.

Area 7 comprises 79km of motorway and 428km of trunk roads in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. It includes stretches of the M1, M69, M6, as well as the A1, A14, and A46 and is one of the busiest Highways Agency networks.

A-one+ and the Highways Agency brought together three existing Areas to form the new Area 7 commission. This has involved implementing new processes and procedures, which has been particularly challenging when set against the backdrop of the current economic downturn.

 A-one+ is a fully integrated highway services joint venture company which combines the expertise of three leading performers in the market; Halcrow Group Limited, Colas Ltd. and Costain Group Plc.

Following on from the success of the Pilot, the Passport is to be rolled out throughout Area 10!

All inductions, Toolbox Talks, RAMS and other briefings, together with Competency Records, will be managed through the Mosaic system with a view to rolling out the Smart Card Solution throughout the area.

Aone+ have already expressed interest in piloting the solution in a contract they have with the Highways Agency.
